Our team aims to resolve the matter promptly and effectively – from the initial claim assessment, through to litigation or dispute resolution.   • Participating in the review of a major New Zealand domestic insurer's policy portfolio and advising on product structure, coverage features and qualifications.
  • Drafting contract works insurance policy for a major New Zealand insurer.
  • Advising Body Corporate (mixed commercial and residential units) on presentation of material damage and business interruptions claims; negotiating bases of settlement and guiding body corporate on application of insurance proceeds and amendment to the unit plan.
  • Supporting numerous commercial policyholders; to present and negotiate settlement of their material damage and business interruption earthquake claims.
  • Revising domestic insurer's policy portfolio and advising on product structure, coverage features and qualifications; leading redrafting process.
  • Providing opinion on continuation of EQCover under Earthquake Commission Act 1993, supporting insurers' position in High Court Declaratory Judgment proceedings EQC v. ICNZ & Ors (CIV 2011-485-1137).
  • Arrangements for an insurer concerning the management and procurement of construction services for the rebuilding of Christchurch as a result of the Canterbury earthquakes worth approximately $1 billion. Associated issues relating to building standards for repairs and rebuilding.
  • Secondment to a major New Zealand domestic insurer to assist with the response to the Canterbury earthquakes.
