Rachel Irwin

LLB, BA, Solicitor

As part of the Dispute Resolution Team, Rachel works with Amanda Douglas on a range of employment law matters. These include personal grievance claims, mediation regarding employment disputes, ERA hearings, restructuring, disciplinary processes, and restraints of trade. She also advises on employer obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and drafts agreements and policies for employers.
 
Rachel has an international diplomacy background. She has both worked at the United Nations on human rights issues and represented New Zealand’s interests offshore, including those relating to international trade negotiations.

Recent Projects

  • Advising employers on disciplinary processes, performance management, and other employment processes.

  • Negotiating personal grievances claims for employers and employees, including representation at mediation.

  • Advising employees and employers on all aspects of termination including serious misconduct, restructuring, redundancies and negotiated exits.

  • Advising clients on changes to employment laws and updating their employment agreements and policies following those changes.
