Scott is a highly experienced commercial litigator. He advises clients with complex disputes in the areas of construction, negligence, property, and insurance law. He also frequently gives advice involving trusts, professional negligence, company disputes, and regulatory investigations. He has appeared as sole counsel in proceedings before the Court of Appeal, High Court, District Court and range of tribunals.
Scott is also known for his skill in alternative dispute resolution, be that private arbitration, mediation, expert determination, adjudication or negotiation.
Scott’s international experience was gained at a global law firm in London where he specialised in Energy and Infrastructure disputes. Examples include a $2.0 billion international arbitration over an LNG Plant and numerous disputes involving works to the London Underground network. Before that, he was contracted to a US law firm, supporting over 100 plaintiffs to mediate their dispute against 11 international airlines for allegedly leading a worldwide anti-competitive cartel. In New Zealand previously, he worked for 6 years on a wide range of civil, commercial and criminal litigation cases.
